Dr. Marshall Titus joins Vettd.ai Board of Advisors

Titus is Managing Dentist at the Willamette Dental Group’s largest office in Everett, Washington. In addition, he is actively involved as a volunteer for the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Western Regional Examination Board (WREB).

Once Dr. Marshall Titus understood the potential for the natural language processing (NLP) capabilities of Vettd.ai, he accepted an offer to join the company’s Board of Advisors.

Titus was intrigued when board member Mike Millegan explained how Vettd.ai solutions can evaluate and score textual information that supports complex analysis and decision making.

Millegan recounted how Vettd.ai is being used successfully to help perform the initial screening of graduate school applications in the medical field. That led to a meeting with CEO Andrew Buhrmann who explained that Vettd.ai models use proprietary natural language processing (NLP) techniques to learn the roles that words play in a sentence, paragraph, and documents such as a resumes, essays, cover letters and answers to questions.

Vettd’s NLP understands how a group of people express themselves and how this group is similar or different than other groups.

“That was an eye-opener for me,” said Titus who will provide guidance as Vettd.ai expands to new markets where evaluating and scoring text is a challenge. “I felt there was a good connection.”

Titus is Managing Dentist at the Willamette Dental Group’s largest office in Everett, Washington. In addition, he is actively involved as a volunteer for the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Western Regional Examination Board (WREB).

Titus has been involved in the ADA’s Council on Dental Accreditation (CODA) since 2007. CODA is the national accrediting agency for dental and dental-related education programs at the post-secondary level.  He is in the second year of a four-year term as a commissioner providing input about accreditation standards from the dental practitioner’ perspective.

CODA employs a rigorous, collaborative peer review accreditation process to evaluate the quality of more than 1,400 dental and dental-related education programs. Prior to becoming a commissioner, Titus participated in three-day visits to thoroughly evaluate dental schools’ education programs.

Vettd’s ability to interpret, evaluate and score text is what caught Titus’ attention because of his work developing competency assessments for state agencies that license dental professionals. These assessments include situational questions and actual patient work which require expert review.

“I’ve been searching for opportunities to help augment and improve manual grading practices,” Titus said. “After seeing how the Vettd.ai team and platform develops comprehensive AI solutions for complex data processes, it was far ahead of other AI platforms and services I’ve assessed.”

“That’s when the light bulb went off.”
